| THE COMPANY
Christian Funk trained to be a cook and worked from 1981 to 1982 in
Geneva and Gstaad in Switzerland and then, up until 1984, on board the
cruiser Royal Viking Sky. It did not take long for him to establish
himself as the best ice carver of the Royal Viking Line, at the time
one of the market leaders. Starting out with the bare necessities, he
founded his own company in 1986 at his parents' home and in 1990 expanded
to an area of some 32,000 sq.ft (10,000 sq.m.) near Limburg/Lahn, thus
pushing up his capacity tenfold. With a maximum annual production of
600 tons of crystal ice for artistic sculpturing, FUNK INTERNATIONAL
ICE CARVING GMBH is the world's largest and most perfect company of
its kind. A workshop, company-own deep-freeze trucks, 17 skilled and
experienced employees plus the top ranking position in terms of idea,
design, creation and project handling by Christian Funk all go to make
for the undoubted success of this company.
